Sustainability as a way of operating.

We define sustainability as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. In underground work, that is best accomplished through simultaneous environmental, social and economic improvement — not through a report written at the end.

Underground infrastructure is uniquely long-lived. A tunnel we design today will be carrying water, sewage or passengers for a century. That is the strongest sustainability argument there is: build it once, build it right, and it keeps delivering value without asking for more land, more energy, or more maintenance.
